It is Wednesday, and here we are.

A breath for Wednesday. A breath for pausing to look back and look forward.

Ta-da!

Compared to last week? I don't feel like I've done much. But I've done LGQ admin, and written a hymn tune and half-harmonised it (though I am going to have to scrap some of the harmonisation), and the workshop with the BBC Singers went really very well, and I made it back to That London.

And I've spent some time being a bit more internal, and thought about some Matters Arising.

Today I've mostly been cooking, with the result that I shouldn't have to do so again for a few days unless I feel like it.

The Hard

I've been really tired; not surprising, given everything. This trip to Aberdeen was just packed, and it was really good, but it felt like too long away from beloved spouse, too long away from this funny little crowded house we've lived in longer than I've lived anywhere in my entire life, and by the end of it I felt like I was moving through treacle, and I'm not really keeping on top of admin very well at all.

The next few weeks are pretty busy, so instead of just going splat until I'm feeling better, I'm going to have to try and pace myself and figure out what I can do and what I can skip and so on.

The Good

No more overnight trips anywhere until at least the end of December, hurrah! The BBC Singers workshop went really well and was also really constructive. I have work I can put online.

Quests

Patreon stuff
Cecilia's List stuff

Probably some other stuff

The PLN

Rehearsal tonight. Deferred Date Night tomorrow night. Rehearsal Friday night. My piece being sung at St Paul's Cathedral Saturday night. Advent Carols in Twickenham Sunday night. Compline Monday night...

I think my PLN at the moment has to be "forget about trying to get up early, get up when you get up and do the routine then," because being out in the evening generally means I get to bed later than is ideal.

How are you?

What have you done? What are your quests? What is hard in your life? What is good? What is your PLN (or plan)? What is your favourite sleeping position?

I gave myself two days off this past week in order to do Unfuck Your Weekend. It went very well and I’m pleased with the results. I can only really do this when [personal profile] bob is away for an extended period, since I much prefer to do it when I have the house to myself throughout (including in the evenings, so I can wander around happily gazing at the results), and it’s hard for me to fit two consecutive days off into my schedule, but he’s currently on a six-week family visit to Australia so the timing worked out well.

I had a local history writing day today and it was Very Hard to get started, because I'd hit a puzzling part where the sources are more incomplete and contradictory than usual. I got through it by reminding myself to write down my speculations as speculations-plus-evidence rather than trying to determine the one true interpretation.

I cooked egusi stew for the first time in ages. This is a Nigerian dish I've been trying to get right for several years. The version I made this time was closer to the ideal-in-my-head than I've ever been before, which is very pleasing, and I made enough that I have two dinners’ worth in the freezer for the weekend and next week.

I have had a day off today, which has been useful. We have a new bed! This is good. It arrived at about eleven this morning, which meant that I was able to have a nap on it this afternoon. (On my right side, usually ending up on my front, since you ask!)

In the morning I hoovered, mopped the kitchen and bathroom floors, and dealt with the draining board. This evening I cooked a chorizo, pearl barley and kale stew thing, and a pear and chocolate pudding.

Coming up we have a free evening, then choir practice, then a house inspection (hence all the cleaning), [personal profile] countertony's works do, and the Advent carol service. And then a rather tedious work event on Tuesday, after which I've got three days' leave.

Life is generally good, but I'm looking forward to having a bit longer off work.
