Just a note on NHS doing private prescriptions- I don't know if it depends on the trust or whatever, but they DO do them. I got my NHS hand therapist to do me a prescription for The Beautiful Splint Company, and when I spoke to TBSC, they said they regularly get prescriptions from NHS OTs, and they hadn't heard of it being a problem before. The NHS just won't cover any costs involved, of course. If you get a no from a service, it's worth explaining that there will be no cost to them for the prescription.
